Morning Nuggets with Mister Rogers – A Word to the Grumpy Parent

Hello there! I hope you had a good night’s sleep, at least as well as you can with kids in the house … assuming you have youngsters under your roof.

Well, let’s get right to the nugget of the day–

It’s short and sweet. Amy Hollingsworth wrote in The Simple Faith of Mister Rogers, “It was Dr. McFarland, Fred’s mentor in child development from his graduate studies, who noted that Fred was more connected to his childhood than anyone else she knew, that he hadn’t “shed” the vestiges of childhood as most of us have. He was deeply in touch with the joys–and the pathos–of his younger years.”

I guess his message to us would be to spend some time digging out the joys and feelings we experienced when we were young things. Regardless of age, as parents we can easily fall into the role of grumpy, rusty, and plain ol’ dull. Let’s have some fun with our kids today! How about sharing with them some silly things we did or liked as kids.

Happy laughing!
