Apricot bars

Hello everyone and welcome to my Corner!

I’ve been wanting to try out the recipe for apricot oatmeal bars in this cookbook for a while. Fortunately, we had just helped pick baskets of fresh apricots from our friend’s tree. So when I asked my mom if we could go to the store to get dried ones, she asked why we couldn’t use the fresh ones and dry them ourselves.

We found how to make dried apricots on wikihow. However, when the instructions said to bake the apricots on low in an oven for ten to twelve hours, my mom suggested we find another way to bake them. So we learned how to make a solar oven.

We dried the apricots outside for two and a half days. After that, I followed the recipe for the bars and placed them in the oven. They didn’t turn out quite as good as I had hoped, but it was fun. They were a bit too sweet and too dry, and the apricots burned. I might crumble it up into a granola instead.

Your friend,

Christopher
